Hamburger Inn Diner
The Story of Hamburger Inn Diner
Hamburger Inn Diner serves groups of all sizes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Enjoy our homemade favorites for your next occasion. Let us show you the hospitality that has been our way since we opened in 1932. Whether you need hundreds of our famous cinnamon rolls or some boxed lunches for a meeting, we’ve got you covered.
The Hamburger Inn Diner was known as the Senate Restaurant at the turn of the century. At the time, we offered meals for 25 Cents. That's a quarter! Then, in 1932, The Hudson family purchased the Senate Restaurant and we've been running continuously ever since.
According to local gossip, we're the oldest diner in Ohio! If anyone would like to do research into this, please contact us. Oldest or just old, we've been in the community for a long time. There's a coffee club that has been meeting here for over 50 years!
Yes, we're a staple in the Delaware community and generations of Ohio Wesleyan University alumni, staff, and students continue to come back and even send their children to dine with us year after year. So of course we accept the OWU card! 😀 The motto of a million burgers sold 37 at a time has been our sacred legacy. We are unique that we are both a restaurant and a bakery — offering homemade Breads, Cinnamon Rolls, Pies, Soups and Gravies while staying true to a legacy of all things purchased local, fresh, and never frozen.
Our Cinnamon rolls are legendary. We get many requests to ship them across the country. Our Black Angus Chili has been made the same way, with the same ingredients since 1932. So we've been doing this for a while.Recently the city has given us a proclamation! Over the years we have received fantastic reviews from many news agencies and food critics (like when the Hamburger Inn Diner even won the best Ohio Diner in Dom's Diner). But never before have we received a proclamation! We are most proud of that award because this city and our community means so much to us. Hopefully this gives you a peek into the history and the future of our iconic American diner!
